Kasteel ter Meeren

This castle stands between the village of Sterrebeek and Wezembeek-Oppem. The oldest part of it was built in the 12th century, the middle bit in the 15th century and the part visible in this photo in the 19th. It has been abandoned in the last few years, with the outlying buildings and the castle grounds going to ruins. A crying shame. If you have around 5 million euros to spare, please buy it and renovate it, I'm begging you.
There are more pictures of the castle in our flickr gallery, I didn't want to flood Manneken Pics with them. I've also tried to add some historical background. Check out the 'Sterrebeek & Zaventem' set.

Photos by Dez, commentary by Jude (aka Juci, but nobody knows how to pronounce that so I've changed it).

I love that castle and agree that it's a shame that it's being allowed to fall apart. we often cycle past it on our way to 'Pierrette' :)
