Found love at the corner of my street

Found love at the corner of my street

In Dutch they say 'luck lies in a little corner'. I had to think of that when I found this tag on the pavement at the corner of my street. The tags 'amour' (French for love) can be found on pavements all over Brussels. I don't know who is behind this, but it sure adds a poetic feeling to the city...

I had never seen one of those tags before, how lovely and appropriate on April Fools' Day. Here we are, wondering again "Why do fools fall in love"...

Hey Q, while you're out and about, I once stummbled across a statue of a dog peeing against a bollard.

It's somewhere near the Place St Gery/L'Archiduke area but maybe further down towards Midi.

Given that we have both the Manneken and Janneke Pis, this is apparently called the Zinneke Pis. Zinneke being bruxelloise for 'mongrel dog'.

Hope you find it.

How cool!

You know they are all over Paris too - I used to see lots of them around the 9th and 10th. Nice to see them here too.

@Tippler: Last weekend the dog was missing! There's just holes in the pavement!

@ Tippler & Princess: Recently there was a post on brussel.blogt.be (in Dutch) about the missing dog statue: someone overheard a police officer talking about a theft, and assumed the statue was stolen. This news was taken over by brusselnieuws.be and fmbrussel, and eventually made it to the national press.
However, it turned out that there was only an attempt to steal the Zinneke statue, during which the statue was slightly damaged. The City of Brussels removed the statue for some repairs.

i love that statue - Quarsan has a photo of it somewhere in his archives. I didn't know that someone tried to nick it though.

Wow. Thanks for the update.

It was several years ago and I found it by accident. But haven't really looked since.

Was beginning to think I'd imagined it
