Berlaymont

Berlaymont, originally uploaded by quarsan.

I have to start this blog with something typical of Brussels, so how about the HQ of the European Commission? Don't worry, there'll be more interesting photos in the future.

It took me a long time to see the building as it spent years under wraps as they took out the asbestos and cleaned it up. These renovations were four years over time and three times the budget, costing a remarkable 1 Billion Euros. More info

Oooh! A familar object seen from an unfamiliar angle.

Tried that last night by lying on my back under the table in Espace 53.

But she spotted me...

By the way, these renovations were the main reason my father had to eventually close down his restaurant in rue Archimède.

Looking forward to more interesting pics. I'm sure great shots await to be taken from the upper floors, especially during the Open Day in May.
