I saw these outsized pieces of furnature last week, but I don't know what they were doing there as I was too busy rushing to the bike ride.

Apparently they are being part of an initiative of teaching Dutch to personnel in bars, cafes and restaurants. A similar initiative exists to teach Dutch to personnel in shops and stores.
Thanks for that Frank, I really was in a rush and didn't have time to check it out properly.
