Hello quarsan, I chose this picture to be the first I post on your blog. This is a passion flower, or "golgotavirág" in my native tongue. My wife and I found it blooming on an undistinctive fence in Zaventem, during a weekend walk, close to a nearby "duck pond" (I have no idea how that small lake is officially called). Somehow I always thought plants with striking and colourful flowers like this can only grow in a tropical rainforest, but apparently I was wrong.

oooo, lovely. apparently, passion flowers are very easy to grow but i can't, for the hell of me, find any seeds. no seeds, no flowers ....

great photo.

thank you.

I've got a really ugly concrete backyard wall, which would look much better covered with plants. we moved in our house at the end of last summer, and up until now I was busy with my job, so I had no time for greenthumbing around. one of these days, however, I'm going to go for a planthunt. in case I find any passion flower seed, I'll let you know.

zoe, we live in Sterrebeek, but I'm willing to drive a couple of extras miles for a good store, so please, let me know the address.

if you live in sterrebeek then you know of the place that i'm thinking of. it's down a long track and i think it's called 'something? floralis'.

hmm... I only live here, I'm not saying I know the place :) anyway, I googled "Floralis Zaventem", Floralis Sterrebeek" and a couple of other things right until I got to "The cropcircle archive of Belgium". that's where I gave up on it. thank you very much anyway, maybe I just try to catch one of my less stuck-up neighbours and get some info on this floralis thing.

dez - email me at zoeeee AT gmail DOT com and i'll try and tell you how to get there. it's easy if you know where the german school is :) besides, Q needs to go there to replace my waterlilies that he thought were WEEDS! the horror!

ah ja, I know ze deutsche schule, I drive by it almost every weekday, and my wife stirred up some hidden memory, so right now I can actually recall seeing the place - as she said -, "it's across the road from the Bierstube, on the left side" (from our point of view). I will definitely take a look. we have no plants at all at the moment, for which there is no good excuse, since if they are in the yard, you don't even have to water the things (in most cases), for crying out loud. we also have to buy pots for them plants, because our tiny backyard is unfortunately fully paved. thanks a lot, zoe!
