Clouds over the Grand Place

And this is the nearest to sunlight we're going to get for a while. It's almost like being back in Britain and this is why; it's the jetstream over the Atlantic has moved south, thus bringing all the low pressure areas srtaight up the English Channel instead of nudging them towards Iceland.

Charming.

Yellow Flower, Green Thingy

I saw this flower in Sobieski Park the other day and, after many attempts, managed to get a reasonable photo of it and the green bug.

The park has a garden above it that is being refurbished, but it is a nice green space in the city. I hope to be back later to catch the gardens in full flower.

Back in the Jungle

Peering through the Brussels rainforest I was startled to see this huge building.

Is it some sign of an advanced civilisation I wonder?

Apologies for the title, but it's not often I can squeeze in a New York Dolls reference ;-)

Brussels tramlines

The 39 is a great tram rourt, starting from the long tree lined avenues at Ban Eik until it turns into Stockel and then past the Tram Museum and up the wide tree lined boulevard, before twisting around a few streets and ending up at Montgomery.

Fountain

I shot this last September in a Brussels park (I'm terrible with names, if someone knows where this is, please, let me know). The thing I like about it is the effect the shadows of the trees have on the spray of water from the fountain.

Ehh, I long to see summer blue skies again, although real blue ones are rarely to be seen at the height of summer, when the sky is (and feels) more like some white-hot mirror.

What's growin on

Hello quarsan, I chose this picture to be the first I post on your blog. This is a passion flower, or "golgotavirág" in my native tongue. My wife and I found it blooming on an undistinctive fence in Zaventem, during a weekend walk, close to a nearby "duck pond" (I have no idea how that small lake is officially called). Somehow I always thought plants with striking and colourful flowers like this can only grow in a tropical rainforest, but apparently I was wrong.
